Fruishi

Fruishi, I have eliminated one more thing from my "Bucket List".   I went to Epcot at Disney World and had a Fruishi from a Kiosk at the Japan pavilion.

So what is a Fruishi?   It is Sushi without the fish and has fruit in place of the fish.   It was delicious.

 And here are the ingredients from the menu.   No wonder it tasted so good.

It is made in the traditional sushi manner.

On your next trip to Epcot at Disney World be sure to have a Fruishi.   Has anyone heard of any place other than Disney that has Fruishi?   Have a great day.    Lew

THE FIREMAN



Well, not a real fireman but a cast member on Main Street of Magic Kingdom at Disney World portraying a fireman.   He was a very personable individual.   He would ask people "Are you on fire?"   And if they said yes he would ask them if they would like to be misted.   Within seconds after this picture was taken people were stopping and asking to be misted.   He had a red pump-up hand sprayer and would mist the people like the man in the blue shirt.



People were also getting their picture taken next to him.   I had not seen this character at Disney World before but the individual with his jovial and friendly personality was perfect for the portrayal.



No matter how many times I go to Disney World there is always something new or something that I have not seen there before.   Always a fun place to visit.   Like Disney said, The happiest place on earth.     Lew

Disney magnets

I like going to Disney World so I got an annual pass.    An annual pass has a lot of perks:   free admission, free parking, discounts at some of the restaurants and gift shops, and just an all-around good thing to have.

I forgot to mention that you get to enter the park through a special line that is just for annual passholders.   I don't have to stand in the long lines with everyone else.

Oh, and I also got a free wristband that does the same thing as showing my card for admission and discounts.   Technology is amazing.

About a week or so after getting my annual pass I received a welcome card for becoming an annual passholder.

Attached to the card was a Disney PASSHOLDER magnet on it.

I had seen these magnets on the backs of vehicles and so I decided to put mine on the tailgate of my pick-up truck.   Now the whole world knows that I am an annual passholder.

The magnet is a rubberized magnet and sticks real well to the tailgate.   No problems with it until recently.   I was at Hollywood Studios at Disney World.   When I returned to my vehicle in the parking lot I noticed that my magnet was gone from the upper left corner of the tailgate.

Instead, it was now in the lower right hand corner and upside-down.   The magnet would not have fallen off while parked.   It might while I am driving but not while I am parked.   Perhaps a child saw it and took it off and the parents told the child to put it back.   That is the best speculation that I can think of.

I returned the magnet to its rightful place of upper left corner and decided to secure it a little better to my tailgate.   I know. it looks as though I riveted the magnet to the tailgate.  

But it isn't really rivets, it is little tiny powerful rare earth magnets.   This should make it a little more difficult to get off.

Each year they send me a new magnet.   Plus throughout the year they give special ones out to Annual Passholders in a theme park.

At Epcot I got two for their flower festival: one of Mickey and the following month one for Minnie.

Recently I got one of Donald Duck.

By the way, these magnets make great refrigerator magnets.   How do I know?   Yep, there is one on my refrigerator door.

Pride Rock

Pride Rock.   Ever heard of it?   If you are young or young enough at heart to watch Disney movies like The Lion King then you will have heard of Pride Rock.



In the movie The Lion King Pride Rock is a group of rocks where a Pride of Lions and thus the name Pride Rock.

I recently went to see the Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World.   It was really a spectacular show.   And it lasted for 30 minutes which also made it well worth waiting for.   After all, who likes waiting in line for a quickie ride.

Pride Rock was featured throughout the show with the lion on it making movements and expressions most all of the time.    It was a nice touch.

There is a Broadway musical The Lion King which I am sure must be a lot longer than 30 minutes, but the show at Animal Kingdom was just fine for me.

Plus at Disney after the show there is an African themed restaurant called Tuskers featuring African foods located right next to the Festival of the Lion King.   And it is a buffet.

A nice place to sit and relax in air conditioning on a hot summer day while having a sumptuous meal.    After a lot of walking and a lot of waiting in lines for the rides it just feels so good just to sit and relax.

Their menu I am not familiar with except the rotisserie chicken because I have not eaten there recently.

And remember it is a buffet with lots of food.

Remember when I said above that I was familiar with their rotisserie chicken?   I worked at Tusker House at one time and they were noted for their rotisserie chicken.   Yes, I really did work at the restaurant for a while because I was on light duty due to a knee injury.   But normally I worked in the It's Tough to be a Bug show, also called A Bug's Life.   I loved working at the Disney World Animal Kingdom.   It is the most fun job that I have ever had.   All of the guests (customers) were happy, all my fellow cast members (employees) were super pleasant and nice, and the managers were great and kind.   My name badge.

The Tusker House restaurant was closed for some time while it was refurbished and it was reopened as a buffet.   I would recommend dining there because of the wide selection of different foods.

But let's get back to Pride Rock.   There is another Pride Rock at Disney.   I had to go through training in Animal Kingdom.   On my first day my trainer contacted me and told me to meet her at 8:00 am at Pride Rock.    I said fine but what and where is Pride Rock.   She said that it was the cast members (employees) cafeteria in Animal Kingdom.   She gave me directions on how to get there and so I met her at Pride Rock (cafeteria building).   Notice the pine tree in the background in the picture below towering above the roof of Pride Rock (cafeteria).   It isn't really a pine tree.   It is a communications tower designed to look like a pine tree.   Sure fooled me until someone told what it really was.

Both on-stage and back-stage cast members use the cafeteria.   So now we all know about the various Pride Rocks.   There is so much more to tell but I think that it is time to wrap this blog up.   Have a pleasant day.   Lew

 

 

 

 

 

 

 









Hall of Presidents

HALL  OF  PRESIDENTS

It's January and now my "block-out" dates at Disney World are over.   What are "block-out dates?   They are those days when I cannot use my weekday annual pass for free admission to Disney World.   These are the days when the parks at Disney World are extremely busy.    Days in green are "GO".   Like a traffic light where the green lights means "GO".   So as you can see the last two weeks in December I wasn't able to go to Disney on my weekday annual pass.  

But January is essentially all green with the exception of January 1 and 2. 

I am anxious to go to the Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom to see the show.   It has been closed for so long.

I want to see if the animatronic figure of President Trump really looks as bad as what I have seen on the internet.   How natural are the movements of the animatronic.

At another site was a picture which I think looks more like him.   What do you think?   And that long tie.   Is the long tie going to be a new fashion trend?

And for those who haven't seen the you tube video of someone yelling "lock him up, lock him up, lock him up" when President Trump started to speak, here is the link to it.   Hopefully there won't be any demonstrators interrupting the show when I go.   The President Trump speaking is only a small part of the show.

I think that the portrait hanging on the wall inside the Hall of Presidents is a good likeness of President Trump.   The picture of President Ronald Reagan is a very good likeness.   I am not aware of any Fastpass for the Hall of Presidents which means I may have to stand in line for a protracted period of time.   And it is a bit cool right now to stand in line.   But it could be worse, at least I won't be standing in knee deep snow.   That is one of the advantages of living in Florida.   Have the best of a day that you can with this weather that we have been having.

I have to apologize for the picture above.   I got the picture from somewhere on the internet.   I don't remember where.   I went to the Hall of Presidents today to see the show.   I looked for President Trump's portrait hanging on the wall next to President Ronald Reagan.   To my surprise instead of President Trump there was, I believe, President Woodrow Wilson instead.   So the picture above may have been photo-shopped.   I am not sure.   I asked one of the cast members and she said that there is not a portrait of the current president in the Rotunda.   If it was photo-shopped then that is the 2nd time this week that it has happened to me (fooled by photo-shopping).  The actual picture which I took myself today is below.

 

Hidden Mickey's

Hidden Mickey's.   In Disneyworld they are where you least expect them to be.   A Hidden Mickey is the iconic logo of the black large circle for the face and then two smaller black circles for the ears.

Actually, the circles do not have to be black.   It is the design that is important.   Some people make a sport out of trying to find Hidden Mickeys.   I was visiting Disney Springs in Disney World recently and I walked into a store TREN-D.

I noticed at their counter for ringing up sales what looked like a Hidden Mickey scratched into the counter top.   Can you see the three circles?   They are all the same size but of the correct design.

I asked an employee (his name was Joey) if the circles were a hidden mickey.   He said that it was and that there were a total of three hidden mickeys in the store.   He took me around the store and showed them to me.   Here is the first one that he showed me.   Can you see the hidden mickey?   This is a tough one.

Yeah, this is a really tough one.   Here is a hint.   You can see the hidden mickey under her left eye.

He showed me the other one but for a purist like myself I really don't consider the profile view a true hidden mickey.

Can you see it in the splattered blue paint?   It is a side view.

But For The Grace Of God

"But for the grace of God".    An expression that pertains when something bad almost happens to a person.   I know, some people might say "I was lucky".   But I think that lucky refers to something good, like winning the Lottery.   I had my "But for the grace of God" experience on Thursday while at Disney World.    I was heading to the screening metal detectors at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom.

I knew that I would have to take everything metallic out of my pockets and put them in the little white plastic container.   So I started taking them out and holding them in my hand as I approached the metal detector.   I had a celfone and wire frame glasses in my shirt pocket.   I also had my Annual Pass in my shirt pocket.

Yep, you guessed it.   The Annual Pass came out of my shirt pocket and fell to the ground.     That was bad enough but to make matters worse, I wasn't aware of what had happened and went merrily walking along.   When I went through the metal detector the security guard told me about dropping my Annual Pass and one of the security guards brought it to me.   I was shocked to say the least because the Annual Passes don't come cheap.   They have something at Disney called wrist bands.

They come in a variety of colors.

They contain a chip that the identification detectors can sense.    The chip contains all the identity information like the chip in the Annual Pass card.

I decided that NOW was the time to get a wrist band of my own so that I wouldn't have to use the card for security identification purposes.   Plus, you can use them for FastPass entry to rides and attractions.   So my first stop was City Hall where Guest Services is located.   This is where all of your questions can be answered.

But they were busy.   They are always busy.   There always seems to be a line.   I was in a pinch for time because I had a FastPass reservation for the Haunted Mansion.

I decided to try the Chamber of Commerce next door.

No lines and no people at all and two cast members in the lobby.   I just wanted to know where I could get a magic wrist band at.   Just a simple question which I hoped that they would be able to answer even though this was really not the right place for that.   By the way, the Chamber of Commerce is where you can have your packages of purchases in gift shops sent to so they can be picked up later.

It is really a nice convenience so that you don't have to lug purchases from the various gift shops around all day.   The gift shops will transport your purchases to the Chamber of Commerce for you to pick up later.   The Chamber of Commerce is close to the entrance as well as the exit of Magic Kingdom.   The cast members in the lobby not only told me that I could get a wrist band at the nearest gift shop which they pointed to but one of them actually went and got the wrist band for me and programmed it with their laptop computer to identify me.   I didn't have to do a thing.   I thought that they were really great by going over and above in helping me.    What did the wrist band cost me?   It was free.   Even better the cast member got me a blue wrist band which is my favorite color.   This is the wrist band on my hand.

Off to the Haunted Mansion I flew to meet my reservation time.   I made it and I got to use my new wrist band for the FastPass and it worked just fine.   The cast members had also given me two free FastPasses that I could use for any ride and so I went on the Jungle River Cruise ride and used my wrist band again for the FastPass scanner.

Now this was really great because the last time that I went on the Jungle River Cruise I had a 45 minute wait.   But not this time, thanks to FastPass.
